Graduating Westwood Elementary 5th Grade learn about SWAP

Westwood Elementary 5th graders who will be attending Spring Oaks Middle School in the Fall learned about the S.W.A.P. (Student’s with Amazing Potential) Saturday program. ¬†Communities In Schools Houston project leader Adrian Gonzalez, along with Elevation Station youth director Victor Resendiz explained to these rising 6th graders how they can attend the SWAP Saturday program by letting either John Vargas (Communities In Schools – Spring Oaks MS) or Jerry Roberts (counselor ¬†– Spring Oaks MS) that they are interested in receiving an invitation.

The S.W.A.P. program provides life skills curriculum, large and small group interaction, field trips and time with caring adults. ¬† Established in 1997, S.W.A.P. has touched the lives of 1000’s of Spring Branch area students and their families, providing support, direction and guidance through important Middle School years.

The Westwood students viewed this video during the presentation – as well as participated in team-building exercises and heard from a current SWAP student.
